At the heart of the composition—both literally and metaphorically—lies a luminous, three-dimensional heart rendered in rich, layered impasto. The heart, painted in a spectrum of radiant pinks, coral, and warm magentas, is outlined with a bold, deep purple that anchors it within the canvas while simultaneously suggesting a sense of depth and movement. Its form, though stylized, evokes the universal symbol of love and emotional fulfillment, yet the artist imbues it with a palpable sense of organic vitality through thick, textured applications of paint that suggest both physicality and emotional warmth.

The surrounding background unfolds as a vibrant tapestry of color and gesture, composed of vertical and diagonal strokes that convey a sense of rhythmic energy. A rich interplay of deep purples, cool teals, and electric blues creates a dynamic backdrop that contrasts with and amplifies the warmth of the central heart. These hues are not merely decorative; they serve as emotional counterpoints—cool tones of introspection and serenity balancing the passionate, warm core. The use of visible brushwork and layered textures across the canvas reveals the artist’s tactile engagement with the medium, emphasizing the process of creation as an integral part of the artwork’s meaning.

In its formal execution, *My Heart is Full* aligns with the broader currents of contemporary abstract expressionism, where emotional authenticity and sensory experience take precedence over representational accuracy. The work’s classification can be understood as a hybrid of lyrical abstraction and expressive figurative abstraction, as it retains a recognizable symbolic form—albeit in a non-literal manner—while prioritizing emotional expression and material presence. The composition invites the viewer into a contemplative dialogue with themes of love, gratitude, and inner joy, all conveyed through a visually rich and emotionally charged palette.

The artist’s signature, subtly placed in the lower right, is a testament to her authorship and the personal nature of the work. *My Heart is Full* is not merely a depiction of emotion but a celebration of it—a visceral, painterly affirmation of the heart’s capacity to hold and radiate feeling. As a reproduction print, this piece retains the expressive power and emotive intensity of the original, translating the textured richness and chromatic harmony of the painting into a format that allows for wider accessibility while preserving its artistic integrity.

For more art by Jeanette Vertentes click here.

Decorus Art is an authorized licensee of Wild Apple Graphics.
