Carson Overstreet: Painting the Spirit of the Southern Landscape
Carson Overstreet is a Virginia-based artist whose work captures the beauty and character of the southern landscape. Growing up in the small town of Bedford, Virginia—nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains—Carson’s artistic sensibility was shaped by her surroundings and her creatively inclined family.
A self-taught artist for her first decade of painting, Carson began her artistic journey in 2013. In 2023, she deepened her practice by studying under renowned artists Scott Christenson and the late Randy Sexton. Her work spans a wide variety of subjects, including landscapes, florals, still life, figures, and plein air painting, though her large-scale landscapes and florals remain her most in-demand pieces.
Carson’s style defies easy categorization, moving effortlessly between large and small formats, muted and vibrant palettes, and realistic and abstract approaches. This versatility allows her work to feel both familiar and refreshingly new, making each piece a unique reflection of her evolving creative voice.
Her artwork can be experienced in person at LinDor Arts (Roanoke, VA), The District Gallery (Knoxville, TN), Camellia Art (Hilton Head Island and Bluffton, SC), and Serendip (Norfolk, VA). Online, her work is available through Liza Pruitt and her own website.
Carson is a proud member of the American Impressionist Society and shares her passion for painting by teaching local art classes in Richmond, Virginia. Through her art, Carson Overstreet invites viewers to see the southern landscape through her eyes—alive with texture, color, and emotion.
