Kate Jarvik Birch: Finding Magic in the Everyday

Kate Jarvik Birch is a full-time visual artist, author, playwright, and lifelong daydreamer whose work captures the quiet beauty of ordinary moments. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Kate holds a degree in Painting and Drawing from the University of Utah (2005) and has built a multidisciplinary career that spans fine art, literature, and theater.

Her artwork has reached audiences around the world, appearing in major retailers such as Target, Pier One, and World Market, and featured in popular television series and films including Transparent, Medium, Glee, 21 Jump Street, and Looper.

Over the past six years, Kate has been committed to her ongoing painting-a-day project, creating more than 2,000 small gouache paintings—each a quiet celebration of everyday life. From cups of coffee to bowls of fruit, her pieces invite viewers to pause and appreciate the simple, often overlooked moments that shape our days.

Kate believes that art surrounds us—it’s just a matter of learning to see it. Through her paintings and stories, she continues to inspire others to find beauty in the familiar and to embrace creativity in all its forms.
