Art Historian's Take
Pela Studio — "Deco Coffee II" is a masterful example of contemporary graphic design that draws deeply from the Art Deco movement, a style that emerged in the 1920s and 1930s as a symbol of modernity, luxury, and technological progress. The artwork aligns with the Art Deco tradition through its use of geometric forms, strong vertical lines, and a stylized, almost architectural composition. The bold, sans-serif typography of 'MACCHIATO' and 'ROME ITALY' is characteristic of the period's emphasis on clarity and impact, while the warm, earthy color palette—dominated by rich browns and creamy beiges—echoes the materials and palettes favored in the era’s design. The composition is balanced and centered, creating a sense of order and elegance, with the negative space around the central coffee cups and pitcher enhancing the graphic quality of the piece. The artist employs a limited but effective palette, using subtle variations in tone and pattern to add depth and texture without overwhelming the viewer. This work is a modern reinterpretation of vintage travel posters, capturing the spirit of mid-century design while remaining accessible and relevant to contemporary audiences. The interplay between the organic form of the coffee cups and the rigid geometry of the background creates a dynamic tension that is both visually compelling and conceptually rich. In its celebration of a simple, everyday ritual, the piece transcends mere decoration to become a cultural artifact, reflecting on the enduring appeal of coffee as a social and aesthetic experience. The work’s enduring resonance lies in its ability to evoke a sense of timelessness and sophistication, making it a significant contribution to the ongoing dialogue between historical design movements and contemporary visual culture.

Love the artwork

The colors are great for our room. We needed something with the dark teal color. Love the artwork. The artwork however was almost ruined. The delivery person put it out on front stoop in the pouring rain. I would suggest that Decorus put the tube into sealed plastic before inserting into the shipping box.

Hi Deborah,

Thank you for the feedback, we really appreciate it—and I’m glad to hear the artwork and colors worked well for your space.

I’m sorry to hear about the delivery experience, that’s always frustrating when carriers leave packages exposed like that.

Since your order and your feedback, we took a big look at how we were packaging prints and ran with your feedback. Since the end of last year we all prints are now rolled and placed inside a protective plastic sleeve before going into the tube, which is then placed in the box, which helps prevent issues like moisture exposure during transit.

We appreciate you calling that out, it’s exactly the kind of feedback that helps us improve.

Cheers,
Shane

FAQ, shipping, and expectation setting

High-converting pages remove uncertainty before it becomes a support ticket.

How will my print arrive?

Your print arrives unframed and unstretched, rolled in a protective tube. No frame, no stretcher bars, no mounting -- just the printed material. You choose how to finish it.

Does this come framed or stretched?

No. Every print ships unframed and unstretched, rolled in a tube. This is the print only -- you take it to a local frame shop, stretch it yourself, or have your designer install it however you like.

Does your canvas prints come with a bleed for stretching?

Yes, by default all Canvas Prints come standard with a 3" mirrored bleed.

Do you produce this yourselves?

Yes. Every print is produced in-house at our studio in Sarasota, Florida.

What is the difference between materials?

Poster is smooth and cost-efficient, fine art is the most elevated paper choice with rich detail, and canvas adds textural softness and painterly depth. All three ship unframed and unstretched.

Do you do custom sizes?

Yes, we do custom sizes. Please send your part number and the custom size and substrate you are looking to have printed and we can quote you the price or build you a draft order. Please send inquiries to info@decorus.art

Do you modify or crop images?

Do you need us to alter an image ratio, artist signature, change color, or other image manipulation? There is a flat $25 design fee. If the image ratio is staying the same and you just need a size not listed, please email us at info@decorus.art or tell us in chat and we can add that option to our website. There is no charge for the same ratio in a size not listed.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final due to the nature of print on demand. However, we do accept returns in cases of manufacturing defects or delivery of the wrong item. Please contact us immediately if you receive a defective or incorrect item.

What other sizes are available for a print?

To see other sizes we are capable of printing while matching the original ratio, please use our Image Aspect Calculator and plug in the original size to show other options which may not be listed.
