Art Historian's Take
James Wiens — "Lets Roll I Grunge Crop" is a compelling example of contemporary graphic art that synthesizes elements of urban realism with a distinct postmodern sensibility. The work aligns with the broader tradition of American Pop Art and street art, drawing inspiration from the bold, graphic lines and high-contrast palettes of 1980s and 1990s illustration, while infusing it with a distinctly modern, digital-age aesthetic. The composition is characterized by a dynamic asymmetry, with the motorcycle's form occupying the left and center of the frame, creating a sense of forward momentum and narrative tension. The use of negative space on the right side of the canvas serves to balance the visual weight and emphasize the subject's dominance. The color palette is deliberately limited, employing a deep, saturated midnight blue for the motorcycle's body against a desaturated, textured charcoal gray background, creating a powerful visual contrast that is both striking and moody. This technique, reminiscent of early 20th-century modernist experiments with color and form, underscores the artwork's thematic focus on industrial strength and urban resilience. The visible texture of the surface, with its distressed and weathered appearance, is not merely a stylistic choice but a central element of the piece's interpretive significance, suggesting the passage of time, the wear and tear of constant use, and the enduring spirit of the machine and its rider. Wiens's technique, which appears to blend digital rendering with traditional media textures, positions the work at the intersection of technological advancement and artisanal craft, making it a significant contribution to the discourse on the nature of representation in the digital age.

Love the artwork

The colors are great for our room. We needed something with the dark teal color. Love the artwork. The artwork however was almost ruined. The delivery person put it out on front stoop in the pouring rain. I would suggest that Decorus put the tube into sealed plastic before inserting into the shipping box.

Hi Deborah,

Thank you for the feedback, we really appreciate it—and I’m glad to hear the artwork and colors worked well for your space.

I’m sorry to hear about the delivery experience, that’s always frustrating when carriers leave packages exposed like that.

Since your order and your feedback, we took a big look at how we were packaging prints and ran with your feedback. Since the end of last year we all prints are now rolled and placed inside a protective plastic sleeve before going into the tube, which is then placed in the box, which helps prevent issues like moisture exposure during transit.

We appreciate you calling that out, it’s exactly the kind of feedback that helps us improve.

Cheers,
Shane

FAQ, shipping, and expectation setting

High-converting pages remove uncertainty before it becomes a support ticket.

How will my print arrive?

Your print arrives unframed and unstretched, rolled in a protective tube. No frame, no stretcher bars, no mounting -- just the printed material. You choose how to finish it.

Does this come framed or stretched?

No. Every print ships unframed and unstretched, rolled in a tube. This is the print only -- you take it to a local frame shop, stretch it yourself, or have your designer install it however you like.

Does your canvas prints come with a bleed for stretching?

Yes, by default all Canvas Prints come standard with a 3" mirrored bleed.

Do you produce this yourselves?

Yes. Every print is produced in-house at our studio in Sarasota, Florida.

What is the difference between materials?

Poster is smooth and cost-efficient, fine art is the most elevated paper choice with rich detail, and canvas adds textural softness and painterly depth. All three ship unframed and unstretched.

Do you do custom sizes?

Yes, we do custom sizes. Please send your part number and the custom size and substrate you are looking to have printed and we can quote you the price or build you a draft order. Please send inquiries to info@decorus.art

Do you modify or crop images?

Do you need us to alter an image ratio, artist signature, change color, or other image manipulation? There is a flat $25 design fee. If the image ratio is staying the same and you just need a size not listed, please email us at info@decorus.art or tell us in chat and we can add that option to our website. There is no charge for the same ratio in a size not listed.

What is your return policy?

All sales are final due to the nature of print on demand. However, we do accept returns in cases of manufacturing defects or delivery of the wrong item. Please contact us immediately if you receive a defective or incorrect item.

What other sizes are available for a print?

To see other sizes we are capable of printing while matching the original ratio, please use our Image Aspect Calculator and plug in the original size to show other options which may not be listed.
