Artwork Description
Reproduction of Glowing Heart by Jeanette Vertentes
Jeanette Vertentes’ *Glowing Heart* is a compelling example of contemporary expressive abstraction, rendered with a visceral energy that speaks to the enduring power of the heart as a universal symbol. The work masterfully employs a rich impasto technique, where thick, textured layers of pigment are applied with bold, gestural strokes, creating a palpable sense of depth and tactile presence. At the heart of the composition—both literally and metaphorically—is a central, stylized heart form, its contours defined by a deep, velvety magenta outline that anchors the piece and draws the viewer’s gaze. Within this form, a vibrant interplay of hot pinks, fiery oranges, and touches of luminous coral unfolds, suggesting an inner radiance, as if the heart itself is a source of light or a pulsing vessel of emotion. The surrounding background is a dynamic field of color, where warm ochres, soft peach tones, and streaks of radiant yellow blend into cool, atmospheric washes of turquoise and lavender. These contrasting hues create a sense of movement and emotional resonance, evoking a celestial or cosmic atmosphere that frames the central heart in a moment of transcendent significance. The artist’s use of color is both emotive and symbolic, with the warm palette suggesting warmth, passion, and vitality, while the cooler tones offer a sense of calm and introspection, creating a balanced tension between inner fire and outer serenity. The work can be classified within the broader tradition of contemporary figurative abstraction, where recognizable forms—such as the heart—are reimagined through non-representational means to convey emotional and psychological depth. It also resonates with the expressive qualities of post-war American Abstract Expressionism, particularly in its emphasis on gesture, materiality, and emotional immediacy. Yet, Vertentes infuses this legacy with a distinctly modern sensibility, one that embraces the optimism and accessibility of pop-influenced color palettes, rendering the piece both personal and universally resonant. *Glowing Heart* stands as a testament to the artist’s ability to translate intangible emotions into a visually compelling and spiritually uplifting image. Its layered textures and radiant color field invite repeated viewing, each encounter revealing new nuances in the interplay of light, form, and feeling. As a reproduction print, this piece captures the full expressive power and luminous quality of the original, offering collectors a timeless work that celebrates love, life, and the enduring glow of the human spirit. For more art by Jeanette Vertentes click here.
